MNS vows to block the film’s release despite excitement among fans.
The record-breaking Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, is facing opposition in India just days after its release was confirmed for October 2, according to Times of India.
The opposition party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackery, has announced that it will not allow the film to be screened in India.
Ameya Khopkar, an MNS politician and producer, declared that Pakistani films would not be permitted in India, and Pakistani artists would not be allowed to work in Indian cinema.
He added, “We will not let this film release anywhere in India,” further criticizing an Indian company for facilitating the movie’s release.
Despite these threats, excitement remains high among fans eager to see the film.
On Wednesday, The Legend of Maula Jatt, produced by Ammara Hikmat and directed by Bilal Lashari, reached a major milestone when its Indian release was confirmed.
Director Bilal Lashari expressed his enthusiasm on social media, sharing his pride in the film’s continued success in Pakistan and excitement for its upcoming release in India.
While the MNS’s next steps are unclear, the film’s release would mark a significant moment for cross-border cinema, as Pakistani and Indian artists have a shared history of working in each other’s countries despite political tensions.
If the release proceeds without obstruction, The Legend of Maula Jatt is poised to captivate Indian audiences, extending its record-breaking run.
