Shehbaz Sharif Seeks Enhanced Cooperation with Russia During SCO Summit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the independent and robust nature of Pakistan-Russia relations in his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summits, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation and overcoming financial and banking obstacles to expand barter trade.
He noted Pakistan’s long-standing trade relationship with Russia, particularly in machinery and textile goods, and praised Russia’s support in the energy sector, acknowledging the recent oil shipment.
PM Shehbaz expressed a desire to enhance trade, currently at one billion dollars, and strengthen bilateral ties further.
Accompanied by key officials, he will present Pakistan’s views on regional and global issues at the SCO meetings and participate in trilateral talks with Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
