Bushra Bibi’s Health Cleared After Hospital Examination
After a thorough medical examination at a private hospital in Islamabad, doctors have given Bushra Bibi, the wife of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, a clean bill of health.
Bushra Bibi underwent diagnostic tests, including endoscopy, during her six-hour stay at the hospital. However, she declined to undergo a blood test.
The medical reports, overseen by Imran Khan’s physician, Dr. Asim Yousuf, indicated that Bushra Bibi had only a minor gastric issue.
Her refusal to provide a blood sample will be noted in the final report, which will be shared with Dr. Asim, the jail superintendent, and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The accountability court had previously ordered a comprehensive medical examination for Bushra Bibi at a private hospital within two days.
Earlier, Bushra Bibi had petitioned the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to arrange for her medical tests at Shaukat Khanum Hospital or another private facility to investigate suspected food poisoning.
She complained of heartburn and mouth pain, attributing it to tainted food served during her imprisonment. Imran Khan also alleged that she had been given food spiked with toilet cleaner.
Meanwhile, during a hearing of the National Crime Agency (NCA) case at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan raised concerns about additional barriers in the courtroom, which were promptly removed by the jail administration on the judge’s order.
