PCB Struggles with T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Dilemma

PCB Faces Dilemma Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Announcement

As the deadline for announcing the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finds itself in a challenging position.

The squad announcement is scheduled after the first T20I match against England on May 22, complying with the ICC’s May 25 deadline.

Notably, players like Haris Rauf, Usman Khan, and Salman Ali Agha didn’t participate in the Ireland series.

While Hasan Ali, included as Rauf’s backup, played only one match. Rauf’s fitness is crucial, with the sources indicating he must prove his readiness for the World Cup.

Usman, Salman, and Hasan are likely to be named as traveling reserves.

Pakistan is placed in Group A of the World Cup, alongside India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA.

Their first match is against the USA on June 6 in Dallas, followed by the highly anticipated clash with India on June 9 in New York.

Following the T20I series against Ireland, the team has traveled to England for four T20Is from May 22 to 30, their final preparations before the mega event.

This series holds significance as the World Cup begins just two days after its conclusion in the United States.
