Officials halt Harry and Meghan’s global tour plans

Royal Concerns Rise as Prince Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria Visit Mirrors Official Tour

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent three-day visit to Nigeria has raised significant concerns within the Royal Family, as it closely resembled an official royal tour.

Although the Royal Family cannot directly prevent the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from undertaking private overseas trips, they may take measures to curtail these ‘quasi-royal tours,’ according to expert Tom Skyes.

In an interview with The Express, Skyes suggested that Palace officials could exert diplomatic pressure on allied nations to discourage hosting these unofficial royal visits.

“Everywhere they went in Nigeria, they were welcomed as royalty,” Skyes remarked about Harry and Meghan. “The royals can’t stop them from doing more tours.”

“However, the government might apply serious diplomatic pressure on friendly states to avoid hosting these quasi-royal tours,” the expert continued.

Skyes also pointed out that the California-based couple, who resigned from their royal duties in 2020, are essentially signaling their intention to continue leveraging their royal status.
