Record-Breaking Temperatures Expected Across Punjab and Sindh
As summer tightens its grip across Pakistan, a severe heatwave is poised to scorch much of the country, particularly targeting the provinces of Sindh and Punjab over the next 10 days.
A private weather forecasting agency has issued an alarming prediction, indicating that these regions will experience a significant rise in temperatures, surging by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.
This unprecedented heatwave could see the mercury in Sindh and Punjab soar to a blistering 49°C to 51°C, potentially breaking historical temperature records.
The agency’s forecast suggests that the intense heat will affect millions, creating hazardous conditions and amplifying the need for urgent measures to protect public health and safety.
In addition to Sindh and Punjab, the capital city of Islamabad, along with Rawalpindi and their surrounding areas, are expected to endure extreme temperatures as well.
The forecast indicates that temperatures in these regions could climb as high as 40°C to 43°C, further stressing the infrastructure and daily lives of the residents.
Meanwhile, Karachi, although not spared from the heatwave, is anticipated to experience slightly less severe conditions.
The port city’s temperatures may peak at around 40°C on certain days, but are generally expected to range between 36°C to 39°C throughout the 10-day period.
Despite the slightly lower temperatures, the impact of the heatwave will still be felt, necessitating vigilance and precautionary measures.
The weather agency also provided a glimmer of hope, predicting that the intensity of the heatwave is likely to diminish in the first week of June.
However, until then, the severe conditions demand increased awareness and preparedness to mitigate the effects of this extreme weather event.
