Pakistan Prepares for Showdown with India A in Opening Match
Right-handed batter Mohammad Haris will captain Pakistan Shaheens in the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
The national side is set to face arch-rival India A in their opening match on October 19.
Before heading to Oman for the tournament, which begins on October 18, the Shaheens will hold a training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi from October 11 to 15.
The team is scheduled to depart for Oman on October 16.
The squad, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), includes newcomers Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan, who will represent Pakistan Shaheens for the first time.
Samad recently featured for UMT Markhors in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024-25, achieving a strike rate of 122.88.
Daniyal, who played for Nurpur Lions, secured 10 wickets, while Yasir and Zaman played for Allied Bank Stallions in four and two matches, respectively.
The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups, with matches taking place at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat.
Group A includes Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka A, while defending champions Pakistan Shaheens are in Group B alongside India A, Oman, and the UAE.
The Shaheens’ second match will be against Oman on October 21, followed by their final group match against the UAE on October 23.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on October 25, with the final set for Sunday, October 27.
