Turkish President Praises Pakistan’s Economic Progress Under PM Shehbaz, Calls for Stronger Bilateral Ties
During a significant diplomatic meeting on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly,
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his government’s economic performance, particularly the improvement in Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators and reduction of inflation to single digits.
Erdogan praised Sharif’s leadership and commitment to economic reform, expressing optimism about Pakistan’s continued economic growth.
The two leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, defense, and security, while also preparing for the upcoming 7th session of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad.
The leaders also addressed regional concerns, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reaffirming Türkiye’s support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The meeting concluded on a warm note with President Erdogan extending birthday wishes to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
