Dr. Nadeem and Prime Minister Sharif Honor the Memory of Iran’s Visionary Leader
Former caretaker health minister Dr. Nadeem Jan visited the Iranian embassy in Islamabad on Monday to offer condolences on the passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Dr. Jan, whose interim government concluded in August, also expressed his condolences in writing at the embassy.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, considered a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, died when his helicopter crashed in poor weather conditions near the Azerbaijan border, as reported by officials and state media on Monday.
The helicopter, which crashed on Sunday, was carrying Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and six other passengers and crew members.
The charred wreckage was discovered early Monday morning after an overnight search in blizzard conditions.
Dr. Nadeem Jan visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad on May 20, 2024, to offer condolences to Iranian Ambassador Raza Amiri Mughaddam on the death of Iranian President Dr. Ibrahim Raisi.
Supreme Leader Khamenei announced that First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber would serve as interim president, according to the official IRNA news agency.
Before Dr. Jan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also visited the Iranian Embassy to extend his deepest condolences to the Government and people of Iran on the tragic death of President Raisi and other officials.
In his conversation with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam, Prime Minister Sharif paid tribute to the late Iranian President, recalling his interactions with Raisi and describing him as a great leader, visionary, and scholar.
