KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved Rs1.5 billion for the repair of roads damaged by heavy rainfall in Karachi this year.
Chairing a meeting at CM House on Wednesday, CM Shah directed the Local Government Department to investigate the substandard construction of roads built or repaired after 2022, which have since deteriorated.

Areas worst affected include District West, which saw 13.75 million square feet of damage, and Korangi, with 5.55 million square feet.
A total of 120 roads, flyovers, and underpasses across Karachi require patchwork, and CM Shah approved the Rs1.5 billion needed for repairs.
He emphasized that quality standards must be maintained during reconstruction.
Additionally, CM Shah highlighted road damage in other divisions of Sindh, including 219 roads in Hyderabad and 178 in Sukkur, directing relevant officials to begin assessing and repairing these areas as well.
