Justice Aalia Neelum Nominated as First Female Chief Justice of Lahore High Court

Historic Nomination: Justice Aalia Neelum Set to Lead Lahore High Court

Justice Aalia Neelum has been nominated as the chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), marking the first time a woman has been named for the post.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) unanimously nominated her during a meeting led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

Justice Aalia is third in the LHC seniority list after the elevation of former LHC CJ Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan to the Supreme Court.

Born on November 12, 1966, Justice Aalia holds an LL.B. from the University of the Punjab and has been an advocate since 1996.

She joined the LHC bench in 2013 and has delivered numerous significant judgments.

She also served as a focal person for gender-based violence courts and holds multiple diplomas in law and a B.Ed degree.

Additionally, Justice Shafi Muhammad Siddiqui was nominated for the position of top judge of the Sindh High Court (SHC).
