Elon Musk Explains Delay in Planned India Visit
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has offered an explanation for the unexpected delay in his planned visit to India, which he announced earlier this month.
Musk, aged 52, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to communicate the reason behind the postponement: “Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year.”
This clarification from the tech mogul comes in response to another X post announcing the rescheduling of his India visit, originally slated for April 21 and 22. The post speculated that Tesla’s earnings call scheduled for April 23 might have contributed to the postponement.
Earlier announcements by Musk had generated widespread anticipation, especially his expression of eagerness to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aged 73. Many speculated that Musk’s visit might be linked to potential plans for establishing Tesla manufacturing facilities in India, especially considering recent government notifications regarding electric vehicle manufacturing policies.
Originally, Musk’s visit was planned for 48 hours, during which he was expected to meet with the Prime Minister, as well as with representatives from space startups and business leaders.
However, the postponement of Musk’s visit coincides with the lead-up to significant elections in India, and while Modi’s victory seems probable, the formal announcement on Starlink may not occur due to the model code of conduct currently in place
