At least 28 individuals, including 24 students and 4 police officers, were injured during clashes outside a private college in Lahore’s Gulberg area as students protested an alleged rape. Rescue 1122 officials provided first aid to those injured during the confrontation.
The protest followed reports that went viral on social media about the alleged rape of a student, leading to the arrest of a college security guard.
Addressing the incident, Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran said they were actively investigating the case.
DIG Kamran visited the college campus to question staff but stated that no one provided clear information. “Nobody reported the incident so far,” he said, emphasizing that they could not base their actions solely on unverified social media posts.
A spokesperson confirmed that the arrested security guard was in police custody while the investigation continued.
However, they noted that the victim and her family had not yet come forward, and neither the police station nor the college administration had received any formal complaint regarding the incident.
