Karachi Safari Park prepares new home for Madhubala’s relocation and reunion.
Four Paws, a global animal welfare organization, announced that its team of elephant experts will soon arrive in Karachi to facilitate the relocation of Madhubala, an African elephant, to the Safari Park.
According to The New, the preparations at the park to create an elephant-friendly environment are nearing completion.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Four Paws highlighted the significance of this development, aiming to provide a secure and suitable habitat for Madhubala.
The move will also allow her to reunite with her sisters, Malika and Sonia.
The final steps include completing the landscape of the enclosure, enhancing enrichment features, and continuing the elephants’ training.
Madhubala has been kept alone at Karachi Zoo since 2023, experiencing mental distress due to her solitary confinement.
Earlier this year, her companion, a 17-year-old female elephant named Noor Jehan, died after a prolonged illness worsened by inadequate conditions at the zoo.
Following Noor Jehan’s death, local authorities decided to move Madhubala to Safari Park to safeguard her health.
Four Paws noted that the exact date for Madhubala’s relocation will be disclosed soon.
The organization expressed gratitude to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Mayor Murtaza Wahab for his support, emphasizing their joint commitment to ensuring Madhubala’s smooth transition and reunion with her family.
